Shelly Booker
Shelly Booker is a passionate advocate, facilitator and social worker with over 25 years of experience dedicated to helping others. Throughout her career, Shelly has worked with diverse groups of marginalized, underserved and underrepresented adults, children, youth and families in various communities throughout California. Her vast experience includes various paraprofessional and professional roles in community mental health and substance use treatment programs, inpatient psychiatric health programs, juvenile probation, child protective services and providing mental health services to incarcerated persons in the California Prison system. Shelly has dedicated her professional career to serving others in need.
Shelly earned a Master’s degree in Addiction Counseling from Grand Canyon University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. She has also testified as an expert witness on topics of child abuse, domestic violence and substance abuse. Her experience and expertise has made her a respected voice amongst colleagues, community partners and in various advocacy circles. She has advocated for children, families, and individuals impacted by the child welfare and criminal justice systems to have a higher quality of meaningful services to address their needs, enhance their lives and put their families back together. Her tireless efforts have not only brought about meaningful change, but have also inspired countless others to join the cause. Shelly’s deep-rooted compassion and dedication continue to drive her mission of ending generational cycles of abuse, domestic violence and trauma.
Shelly’s unwavering commitment and vision to protect children, enhance the lives of individuals who are systems impacted, strengthen families and communities has led her to take the next step in her career by creating and co-founding Generational Health Services (GHS) along with her husband Darrick. Together, the Booker’s have created educational programs and services targeted at providing meaningful self-help educational work books, courses, groups and coaching services for those who are systems impacted.
